Latasha House. Chandelier. January 20th , 2018.
In ancient days crystals, glasses and ceramics were used to make chandeliers of different sizes and shapes. Chandeliers generally have metal branches, which fit the light holders. The metal branches are highly decorated with art work and stylish designs. The traditional chandeliers have flower, leaf and creeper designs on the metal branches. But, modern chandeliers have classy and trendy art work. The classification of chandeliers is based on the materials that are used to make them. Most of the chandeliers are white in colour because the lighting in chandeliers is by refraction of light through the crystals and glasses used, but, there are also black chandeliers, which are pretty popular because they portray an exotic look. The various types of chandeliers have been discussed below.
Antique chandeliers are becoming increasingly popular in the home these days, especially with new décor styles that include old and new being mixed in wonderful ways. Higher ceilings and different styled homes have made the chandelier the ideal piece for any room, especially since they do not make the room feel cluttered. Traditionally, antique chandeliers would welcome your arrival at the foyer of a (very affluent) home or was found hanging low to captivate you in a dining room. These days, chandeliers are found in just about any setting from the upper class mansion to the normal suburban home, to the traditional home.
They soon began to find their way into some of the more expensive mansions and private homes in this country and abroad and have been around ever since. The industrial revolution provided the impetus for mass production of this once exclusive lighting fixture and today, chandeliers can be found in many homes and in any number of rooms in these homes. One of the major appeals of the chandelier is the drama it creates. It automatically lends character and a somewhat regal atmosphere to an otherwise plain room.
Chandeliers are ornamental or decorative light fixtures that are used for ceiling lighting. Usually, chandeliers are centerpieces in big halls, churches, public galleries, palaces, hotels, mansions, etc. Common residential houses also have cheap chandeliers in the living room, which are simpler versions of the chandeliers, and are not as extravagant as the ones seen in public and commercial buildings. Chandeliers can be lit up with candle lights, incandescent lights and also by energy saving bulbs.
In fact, there are old rot iron chandeliers that the lighting itself is part of the style. There were many chandeliers made back in the turn of the century to create a desired shadow displayed on the walls and the floor of the room that it was placed in. Legend has it that Edison created a chandelier made entirely of mirrors, and it gave off so much light that it allowed the doctor to perform surgery on his Edisons mother. Where the story is true or not, chandeliers have become more and more brilliant at time has worn on. As chandeliers have become more modern, the way they show off their light has also become more modern.
